Professional Fumigation Services in Ventura County
When termite infestation is severe or widespread, full-structure fumigation is the most effective solution. Cal Termite & Pest Control provides licensed fumigation services across Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, and Los Angeles County.
Fumigation eliminates 100% of drywood termites throughout your entire home — including colonies hidden deep inside walls, roof framing, and other inaccessible areas that local treatments cannot reach. As a licensed fumigation company, we handle the entire process from preparation to clearance certification.
How Fumigation Works
Step 1: Preparation — Our team walks you through everything you need to do before fumigation day, including removing food, medications, plants, and pets. We provide a detailed checklist.
Step 2: Tenting — We seal your entire home with specialized tarps to create an airtight envelope. Our experienced crew ensures complete coverage of the structure including attached garages and porches.
Step 3: Fumigant Application — We introduce Vikane (sulfuryl fluoride) gas into the sealed structure. The gas penetrates every piece of wood in your home, reaching termite colonies that no other treatment method can access.
Step 4: Aeration — After the required exposure period (typically 24-48 hours), we remove the tarps and aerate the structure until fumigant levels are safe.
Step 5: Clearance — Using sensitive detection equipment, we verify that all fumigant has dissipated below safe levels. We provide a written clearance certificate before you re-enter your home.
The entire process typically takes 2-3 days from tenting to clearance.
When Is Fumigation Necessary?
Fumigation is recommended when the termite infestation is widespread throughout multiple areas of the home, when drywood termite colonies are located in inaccessible areas like inside walls or roof framing, when local spot treatments have failed to resolve the problem, or when a WDO inspection reveals extensive Section 1 findings. For smaller or isolated infestations, local treatments may be sufficient. We always recommend the least invasive effective treatment.

After Fumigation — Extended Care Keeps You Protected
Fumigation eliminates 100% of drywood termites in your home. But Southern California’s climate means re-infestation is always a possibility. That’s why we created Extended Care.
After your fumigation, Extended Care provides annual termite inspections to catch any new activity early, professional removal of termite droppings (frass) from your home, and a warranty for new drywood termite infestations — if termites return, we spot treat them at no additional cost.
The first year of Extended Care is FREE when you sign up for the following year. After that, it’s $420 per year — the cost of a nice dinner out to protect a home worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Most of our fumigation customers enroll in Extended Care because they never want to go through a full fumigation again. Annual monitoring catches problems early, when a simple spot treatment is all that’s needed.
